drawn to gestures (part 2) with Jay Myers - Thurs, Oct 8, 6-8pm
Part 2: Drawn to Gestures
Ready to start drawing with speed and confidence? Join local artist Jay Myers for a hands-on workshop that continues the approach behind his book 15 Minutes to Art, developed over fifteen years of daily drawing.
We'll open with a quick return to mindset, then move fast: mingling Quick Sketching, Tube Anatomy, and 5-Dot Gestures into one fluid practice. Building upon the tools introduced in part 1, part 2 is about weaving Mindset, Scribbles, and Tubes together with Quick Sketching and 5-Dot Gestures, capturing motion and energy in minutes rather than hours to work quickly without losing expression. By the end of class, you'll have a set of gesture drawings and character sketches that show real movement and life.
Completing drawn to sketching part 1 is recommended, but not required.
Ages 8+ welcome.
Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult who remains in the studio at all times.
What to Expect:
2 hours of guided instruction
Quick Sketching, 5-Dot Gestures, and figure drawing techniques
All materials provided
Add-On: Take home a signed copy of Jay's book 15 Minutes to Art for $15
